A Boon called Jatropha

Jatropha is a drought resistant plant mostly seen in forest areas. A plant mentioned in ancient texts for its medicinal qualities.

It is now highly regarded as an option to ecological saving fuels, against fossil fuels which are guzzled by human beings on transportation which in turn damage Ozone layers in larger scale.

These plants have oil content up to 37 per cent which is an attractive for all including farmers who cultivate, manufacturers who can do useful business and end consumers who can opt for little less cost alternatives for fuels.

They yield results from 2- 5 years depending up on soil fertility and water availability. Fertile lands certainly will give higher benefits. The yield may vary from 0.5 to 12 tons depends on sources.

When diesel found out use of vegitable oil in running vehicles since that moment use of such oil is proven.
Therefore use of BIO-DIESEL is a viable option always lies before us.

So, Oils like Sunflower, Canola are under experiment and used too. Jatropha comes under that list.

Kyoto protocol envisages for promotion of alternative- in particular bio-fuels in larger scale.
